Reset Your Energetic Field with Saltwater Baths

Clear + Release Energy with Saltwater Baths

Salt is a boundary maker. A protector. A purifier. A healer.

It pulls out what wants to fester, settle in.

Saltwater baths combine the potency of salt with the healing and cleansing power of water. Together, both elements compound our intentions for releasing energy from others and resetting our energetic fields.

Healing Benefits of Saltwater Baths

  1. Energetic cleansing:

In various spiritual practices, salt is used to cleanse and purify the energetic fields of individuals and spaces. It is believed to absorb and neutralize negative energies, promoting balance and harmony. Saltwater baths help to remove negative energy, stress, and emotional weight that we may have absorbed from others or our environment.

  2. Physical healing + relaxation:

Soaking in warm saltwater can soothe muscles, relieve tension, and promote relaxation. There are positive effects on blood pressure and a calming effect on the central nervous system. Salt has long been recognized for its healing properties, particularly when it comes to skin and respiratory issues and saltwater baths can help alleviate irritable and painful skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

  3. Protective properties: Salt is often employed as a protective agent, both physically and spiritually. In many cultures, it is used to create a barrier against evil spirits, negative energies, and bad luck. It is not uncommon to find salt placed at the entrances of homes or used in protective amulets and talismans.

  4. Emotional healing: Saltwater baths can provide a space for self-reflection, processing, and introspection, allowing us to process our emotions and release any lingering energy. Playing soothing music can also help move emotion out of your energetic field. By infusing your bath with salts, you create a protected space to process and restore your energy to it’s natural state.

create your own saltwater bath ritual for energetic cleansing

Personally, saltwater baths are a non-negotiable practice for me right now. It’s how I reset and restore my energy. How I create space to be, process, and let go.

When it comes to energy work, intention, and connection are everything. If you’re passively throwing a handful of salt in the water while multitasking and thinking of something else, it will do less than if you do it mindfully. If you connect to the process more deeply, slow down, create a present practice, and connect to the process, it will maximize the effectiveness.

Creating Your Saltwater Bath Ritual

  1. Choose your salt: Sea salt, Epsom salt, and Himalayan salt are all excellent choices for a saltwater bath. Each type of salt offers its own unique properties and benefits, so choose the one that resonates most with you.

  2. Fill your bathtub: Fill your bathtub with warm water. As the tub fills, add your chosen salt, using approximately one to two cups, depending on the size of your bathtub.

  3. Set an intention: Before entering the bath, take a moment to set an intention for your saltwater bath ritual. This could be to release negative energy, cleanse your energetic field, or simply to relax and rejuvenate.

    • I say a blessing as I drop the salt in: “Blessed be these holy waters that cleanse the spirit and protect the soul. May I be willing to know what is needed and be willing to be seen and truly known.”

  4. Soak and relax: Immerse yourself in the saltwater bath, allowing your body and mind to relax.

  5. Cleanse: Physically cleaning our body and our spaces are one of the most practical ways to cleanse our energy in this physical world. Visualize any unwanted energy or emotions being cleansed and drawn out of your body and into the water.

    • I say a simple prayer while cleansing my face or body: “Release all energy from other people, places, spaces, I picked up through the day. Cleanse and return myself to me.”

  6. Release: When you feel ready, drain the tub, allowing the saltwater to carry away the unwanted energy and emotions. As the water drains, visualize your energetic field being cleansed and purified.

    • I say one last prayer as I pull the drain: “Take all that no longer serves me and return it to the earth to be composted and harvested anew.”

The words to the blessing and prayers shape-shift and change but carry the same themes and intentions. I am there in communion with the water, the salt, with myself.

These baths are a spiritual practice for purifying and releasing energy from others and resetting our energetic fields and boundaries.

Every night I return to this practice, I return to myself again and again. So in that way, it isn’t only for energetic hygiene and boundary-making but an opportunity for a deeper connection to myself.
