5 Full Moon Eclipse Journal Prompts

Eclipse Season: Full Moon Reflections

The Full Moon’s light is snuffed out as it positions into the Earth’s shadow. This occurs when the Earth and Moon find perfect alignment for a lunar eclipse. When this happens, we find the Earth in between light and darkness—a place of balanced polarity.

Lunar eclipses remind us that it’s completely natural to have moments in our lives where the light is blocked from our view.

As we grow, move, expand, and unlearn, we can still be confronted by parts of ourselves that feel hard to hold.

My favorite lesson of eclipses is that even when we can’t feel or see it, the light is still there—it’s simply being blocked by something. Even when we can’t see it, we can understand that if we are patient enough for things to shift, the light will return.

As above so below. The Full Moon Eclipse is a beautiful opportunity to reflect on what’s been rising up in your shadow lately.

Here are some eclipse inspired journal questions:

  1. What areas do I feel stuck in judgment (for myself and others)?

  2. Can I trace this judgment back to anything within myself that needs to be healed?

  3. How can I challenge myself to bring in more acceptance, empathy, and understanding here?

  4. Where are the places that feel dark and hard to hold that I’m pushing away?

When you connect into this question, you can sit with what is true for us and learn what is asking to be seen, acknowledged, and reconciled.

  5. Am I willing and ready to start healing these things?

It’s important to reflect on whether or not you are at a place where healing is possible. When we’re still in anger, resentment, judgement, or defensiveness, we often need to work through those emotions before we can fully heal. It’s ok if you’re not quite there.
